The Suzanne Balkanyi Trust supporting print making

When Suzanne Balkanyi died in 2005, she left a quantity of drawings, watercolours, gouaches and prints in her tiny studio. It took seven years to catalogue them. We now have a trust set up in her name whose purpose is to sell her work and to give the money raised to support printmaking and printmaking education.

In 2015, the Suzanne Balkanyi Trust joined with the Arts Council of Great Britain and other charities to help the Leicester Print Workshop to move into a re-purposed warehouse in the Cultural Quarter in the centre of Leicester.

Whenever you buy a print from this website, the proceeds goto support the Leicester Print Workshops initiatives to enable printmaking in the community. You can visit their website here

In 2014 the Suzanne Balkanyi Trust funded a workshop with Martin Vinaver, a Moku Hanga master, in Connecticut USA. Vinaver who helped found Ceiba Grafica in Mexico, came to Connecticut to lead a three day workshop with High School art teachers, students and local artists.

From humble beginnings in a private house thirty years ago, the Leicester Print Workshop has now become the centre of fine-art print-making and print-making education in the Midlands.

The workshop now get visitors, students and visiting artists from all over the world, and with the space they have been able to acquire, they have begun dramatically to extend their teaching programme across the community.
