Founded in 1911, La Rotonde became a favourite cafe among the artists and intellectuals between the wars. The owner allowed artists to sit in his café for hours, nursing a ten-centime cup of coffee. Iif an impoverished painter couldn't pay the bill, the café would often accept a drawing. Picasso, Modigliani, Diego Rivera were regulars. More recently, Emmanuel Macron and members of his entourage celebrated the result of the first round of the 1917 presidential election here.
